Amrit Gurung For those of us who grew up in the 90s, the evolution of our formative years can perhaps be traced through Nepathya songs. Our early years were romantic, idealised versions of life and love as reflected in ‘ Chhekyo Chhekyo ’, ‘Himal Chuchure’, ‘Jomsomai Bajar Ma’ and ‘ Chari Maryo ’. We grew up, turning inwardly poetic with ‘ Resham ’ and looking outward at the country we grew up in with ‘Sa Karnali’ and ‘Bheda ko Oon Jasto’. Eventually, there was disappointment, and disillusionment, vocalised in songs like ‘ Ghatana ’.  TKP

Biratnagar Edition Biratnagar: As government media apparatuses take new course as per historic political decentralisation and government’s focus on development, Gorkhapatra Corporation is planning production, expansion and newsroom transformation. Plans are afoot to start printing of the nation’s 118 year old newspaper from outside the capital for the first time. This move will be realised in Biratnagar, the capital of State 1. Efforts are currently underway to enhance the quality of the Gorkhapatra, its sister publication The Rising Nepal and Muna, Yuba Manch and Madhupark magazines. For this purpose, an orientation programme for the district correspondents concluded here on Tuesday. Scholarships drive students to govt schools Kathmandu,  Private schools are gradually losing their secondary level students over the years, thanks to the government’s scholarship schemes for the medical, engineering, agricultural and other technical courses for the students graduating from public schools. Many guardians opt to enrol their wards to the reputed community schools with a hope that their wards will get scholarships to study medicines or other technical subjects. Many reputed community schools, mostly of the city areas, are facing pressure from the students from grade seven to grade nine due to the government provision to provide scholarship to only the students who have passed the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) from community schools.

Trilok School Holds Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony   Kathmandu (Sajilo Khabar): The annual prize distribution ceremony of Trilok School (Trilok Children's Academy- An English Medium Secondary School), Basantanagar-16, Machhapokhari, was held here on last Wednesday. Prizes for academic excellence and extra-curricular activities were distributed. The prizes were given in categories such as Academic Excellences, General Knowledge Quiz, Artist of the Year, Best in Creative Skills, Best in Mathematics, Debate Competition, Essay Writing, Volleyball, Basketball, Sack Race, Maths Race, Balloon-Blast, etc. The main attractions of the ceremony were ‘Gold Star’ badges given to students of various classes. Medals and Certificates were given to students who stood first, second and third in respective categories. In the end, The Principal Navaraj Khanal gave vote of thanks in his speech. He appreciated involvement of parents throughout the academic session.
